Christopher Williams > Snake Eye[s].

I always come across these Garter Snakes by nearly stepping on them as they race in front of my feet. This one allowed me to take several shots and even switch from my telephoto to my macro lens halfway through!

"We call them faerie. We do not believe in them. Our loss." -- Charles de Lint

Walking through some wooded trails revealed multiple swarms of gnats that look remarkably like tiny fairies! It took several dozen tries to land the focusing and timing right to soot this moving mass of dots.
Christopher Williams > I'm not sure which of us was more startled while encountering the other along the trail here, but I didn't want to let this opportunity slip by so I immediately knelt down and donned as comforting and soothing a demeanor as possible.

While shooting like crazy.

This young guy [or girl?] proceeded to go about it's business eating the wet grass and freshly fallen leaves, all while keeping both ears and a watchful eye on me.

Nearly a half an hour went by before the deer began acting strange. It at one point froze stiff, staring at me, yet almost staring beyond me.

That's when the hair on my neck stood up and I imagined a wolf creeping in behind me, or a cougar ready to pounce! [it could've been a Grizzly for all I knew! Unlikely as they may be in these parts ;)] I slowly turned and peered through the trees and bushes behind me, on the opposite side of the trail.

When I felt [relatively] sure nothing was stalking it, or me, I gave my goodbye and we both parted; I with my camera and jacket, the deer with a fellow White-Tail.
Christopher Williams > Empathy.

As nice as the little portraits of these Meerkats came out, I can't help but feel for them as they tried to jump over or dig under the 10ft brick wall of their cage.
Christopher Williams > Gloop.

The right eye of an African Bullfrog. Mud and all.
